Purpose: This study aims to investigate the relationship between training commitment, exercise satisfaction, and athletic performance in adolescent athletes. To achieve this goal, the study focus on athletes registered with the Korean Sport & Olympic Committee in Seoul, Gyeonggi Province, and North Chungcheong Province in 2024.
Method: Data were collected through a questionnaire, with a total of 364 responses. The data were analyzed using SPSS version 25.0 for exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses, as well as frequency, reliability, and correlation analyses. AMOS version 23.0 was used to analyze the relationships between variables.
Results: First, training commitment in adolescent athletes positively influenced exercise satisfaction. Second, training commitment had a positive effect on athletic performance. Third, exercise satisfaction played a mediating role in the relationship between training commitment and athletic performance.
Conclusion: By empirically examining the relationships among training engagement, exercise satisfaction, and athletic performance in adolescent athletes, this study confirmed that psychological factors are closely associated with improved athletic performance. Specifically, exercise satisfaction mediated the relationship between engagement and athletic performance, confirming that psychological satisfaction and positive experiences play significant roles in improving athletic performance. These results suggest the importance of developing coaching strategies and programs that simultaneously enhance athlete engagement and satisfaction in sports settings, providing a practical basis for future research and applications.
