Purpose: This study aims to analyze the relationship among leisure sports experience, personality traits, and acculturation of Korean immigrants in California, the United States.
Method: Based on the previous studies and their related theories, we constructed and analyzed the structural model of leisure sports experience, personality traits, and acculturation. The instrument was applied to 199 Korean immigrants living in California. The leisure sports experience, personality traits, and acculturation scales used in previous studies were revised and supplemented for this study. The data were analyzed by frequency analysis, exploratory factor analysis, Cronbach`s α, correlation analysis, confirmatory factor analysis and structural equation model analysis by using SPSS 20.0 and AMOS 20.0 programs.
Results: The results showed that 1) the leisure sports experience of Korean immigrants in California had influenced on acculturation. 2) the leisure sports experience of Korean immigrants in California had influenced on personality traits. 3) the personality traits of Korean immigrants in California had influenced on acculturation.
Conclusion: The leisure sports experience, personality traits and acculturation are related, and the leisure sports experience and personality traits are important factors for acculturation.
