Objective: This study investigated the strategic measures to improve the effectiveness of the risk assessment system for the musculoskeletal burden tasks Background: Due to the seriousness of musculoskeletal disorders, the risk assessment system was introduced in 2003, but musculoskeletal disorders have been still occupied about 60% of occupational diseases so far. Therefore, in order to effectively control musculoskeletal disorders, it is necessary to carry out an improvement study on the current risk assessment system of the musculoskeletal burden tasks. Method: We investigated the actual condition of the musculoskeletal disorders according to the size of workplace through analysis of surveyed data by KOSHA. Next, we conducted a survey on 109 workplaces to identify industry needs for improving the risk assessment system. We performed cross tabulation analysis on the surveyed data and suggested the ways how to enhance the effectiveness of the risk assessment.
