In this study, I propose a system to show the interrelationships among various genres of oral tales (which include factual tale forms such as life stories and historical stories). As in Figure 1, I put many literary tale forms, which I have discovered at the storytelling places, within the system, based on several basic characteristics such as ‘factual/fictitious’ of ‘present/past’.

This traditional system of oral tales has less commonly encountered recently, because the mechanism to change factual tales into factitious forms like legends or folktales doesn’t work properly. Thus restoration of the harmonious system as given above should be our major concern.
