The purpose of this study is to investigate the main group of tradition in shamanic songs. The following are the detailed problems and the finding of the study.
1. The main group of tradition in shamanic songs are shamans. These shamans assume a different aspect of tradition in shamanic songs according to spiritistic shamans and hereditary shamans. As a result of the study of 〈shamanic-epic Sonnim〉, we can find many points of difference. This means that tradition in shamanic songs is closely related to shaman's type.
2. While hereditary shamans hand down their shamanic songs centering around working area(Dangolpan), spiritistic shamans hand down their shamanic songs with a specific school. Judging from the investigation of “Okugut” in Seoul, it is probable that there was a specific school in Seoul where the main group is made up of spiritistic shamans.
3. Shamans have made strict relationship with their teacher as the central figure and have handed down shamanic songs by the playbooks. But the weakening of the relationship between teachers and disciples in shamanic society has changed the tradition in shamanic songs. Also, scholars who investigate the shamanic-epic have becoming the main group of tradition in shamanic songs.
