    This paper presents cogging torque characteristic according to the variation of magnetization distribution in brushless DC motor(BLDCM) by using 3-D equivalent magnetic circuit network method (3-D EMCN). 3-D analysis method has to be used for computing its magnetic field because BLDCM has the overhang structure. In this paper, 3D Equivalent Magnetic Circuit Network method (3-D EMCN) by which 3-D magnetic field can be accurately calculated has been introduced. As the result of this study, the magnetization distribution which minimizes the cogging torque which causes torque ripple is suggested and the accuracy and usefulness have been verified by comparing the analysis results with the experimental results.
