In WDM ring network with dedicated channel for each node, an efficient medium access control (MAC) protocol is required. In this paper a novel protocol is proposed to introduce improved performance in throughput and fairness. The protocol embeds a multi-hop topology on an inherently single-hop ring network to achieve this end. Simulation results are shown and analyzed in both uniform and non-uniform traffic conditions. Results show that the proposed protocol indeed introduces intended performance improvements.
