Objective: The aim of this study is to investigate the difference among the movie ticketing applications of three major movie theater companies (CGV, Megabox, Lotte Cinema) from the usability perspective. This study shows that critical drawbacks of the applications and proposes the improvements to maximize usability. Background: According to the increase of the personal mobile device’s usage, the means of movie ticketing activity is transferring from internet environment to mobile application environment. Although the usability of the mobile applications has been studied vigorously, there are very little existing literature about the usability evaluation of the movie ticketing application in mobile environment. Method: To compare and evaluate the usability between the applications, three evaluation methods were used; think-aloud protocol, a usability test, and a survey were performed and analyzed.
