Digital twin technology, stemming from the mirrored spaces model, has witnessed substantial growth in both academic research and practical applications over the past decade. However, the diversity of its applications across different domains and the varied interpretations of the concept have led to ambiguity, complicating its practical implementation. This paper aims to address this issue by presenting an redefined conceptual model based on the mirrored spaces model, which emphasizes the continuous linkage between the physical model and the digital model in digital twin implementations. Furthermore, we introduce a 3-dimensional framework that offers a novel perspective on the level of implementability in digital twin. Unlike existing maturity models that predominantly focus on technological advancement, our model considers key factors, including the complexity of the real-world elements, the complexity of the physical model, and the level of technology components, offering a more comprehensive view of the challenges associated with digital twin implementations. Our proposed model is adaptable to various application domains and provides a structured framework for assessing the feasibility of digital twin development. By considering the level of control over real-world elements, the intricacy of the physical model, and the technology component requirements, stakeholders in different fields can better understand the prerequisites and challenges associated with implementing digital twin technology.
