Objective: This study aims to identify research trend of user experience (UX) evaluation in virtual reality (VR) system via systematic review process, and recommend future research direction on this field. This study contains additional purpose that proposing UX framework of VR system to structurally classify and summarize the selected studies. Background: VR is receiving attention enough to be considered as its revival age in both of industrial and academic field. Technologies related to the implementation of VR systems have continued to evolve. The revival of VR accelerated as low-priced, immersive HMD-based VRs became commercially available to the public. VR systems actively interact with users, thus research on VR system should be conducted from the perspectives of human–computer interaction (HCI) and UX. More specifically, the VR system requires UX research in the following three aspects. First, the VR system consists of a combination of various components, and the interactions performed in the system vary. Second, there is a need to strengthen UX components such as presence, commitment and engagement that VR seeks.
