As the number of Gen. Y employees in the hospitality industry has grown, their role in the workplace has become increasingly important. With regard to this trend, the purpose of this study is to test causal linkage between HPWP (high performance work practice), job satisfaction and customer orientation among Gen. Y hoteliers. In order to achieve the study goal, factor analysis, reliability analysis, correlation analysis, and regression analysis were undertaken to analyze the data obtained from employees working on customer service roles in the Korean hotel industry. This study found that HPWP consists of 7 factors: teamwork, reward, job security, training, selection & development, empowerment, and work-life balance, with job satisfaction showing a significant effect on increasing customer orientation. Another finding was that teamwork had the greatest influence on enhancing job satisfaction, followed by job security, and work-life balance; theoretical and practical implications of these findings are discussed.
