While the number of tourists is rapidly increasing after the COVID-19 endemic, the crime rate in cities frequented by tourists is also steadily increasing. In order to preemptively respond to this, it is most important to have a safe environment from the crime. Accordingly, this study was conducted for the purpose of diagnosing the application of crime prevention through environmental design to Jeonju Hanok Village, one of the representative tourist destinations in South Korea, and suggesting improvement plans. This study is a case study, developed a diagnostic tool based on previous studies, and diagnosed the actual situation based on this. As a result, in terms of principles, ‘natural surveillance’ was best applied, and it was found that the principles of ‘maintenance and management’ and ‘access control’ should be further supplemented. In terms of planning elements, ‘building layout’ was the most excellent, and it was found that provision of ‘spatial information’ and ‘sanitary facilities’ should be supplemented. The results of this study can be used as basic data in seeking ideas for crime prevention environmental design in Jeonju Hanok Village as well as similar tourist destinations.
