원광대학교 인문학연구소는 인문학의 참뜻과 역할을 새로이 정립하기 위해 1996년 설립되었습니다. 연구자들의 연구역량을 극대화하고 인문적 가치를 고양시키려는 목표를 가지고 다양한 프로그램을 운영하고 있습니다. 대표적으로 매년 2회 '인문학연구'를 발간합니다. 학술지의 발간은 연구소의 과거와 현재를 확이나는 과정이자 결과물을 의미합니다. 연구자의 인문학적 토양을 재검토하는 중요한 작업이기도 한 것입니다. 본 연구소에서는 기본적인 학술지 발간 외에 정기적인 학술회의 개최 및 연구발표회를 주최하고 있습니다. 전문적인 인문학 연구기관으로서의 기능과 역활을 충실히 수행하기위해 인접 대학과 연구소와의 긴밀한 협력도 모색합니다. 이렇듯 본 연구소의 체게적이고도 적극적인 연구활동은 인문분야의 전문성을 높일 뿐아니라 인접 학문분야와의 소통으로도 이어져 인문정신의 토대를 넓히는데 일조하게됩니다. 향후 인문학연구소는 다양한 연구활동의 특성화 계획을 통해 침체된 인문학을 활성화시키고 인문학적 가치를 극대화하여 인문학 연구자들의 교류의 장이 될 것입니다.
