One-axis sun sensor was onboard the sounding rockets, KSR-420S-1 and -2, which have been launched on Jun. 4, and Sep.1, 1993, respectively. The sun sensor mainly consists of entrance slit, photodiode array, and electronic circuits, which was mounted on the rocket's outer skin. 450nm radiometers were also onboard to obtain information on rocket attitude. Since the spinning frequency of the rocket is 3~4Hz, the incident angle measurement of solar ray can be reduced to one-axis measurement. This paper presents development and pre-flight tests of the sun sensor onboard the sounding rockets together with its flight results.
