Intellectual capital (IC) has been prevailed as a source of core competency and competitive advantage that can explain the gap between market value and book value of organization at the time of decreasing usefulness of current financial reporting. Nonetheless, there are few methodologies to determine appropriate IC indicators that can be used for reporting IC. In this study, we propose a novel system that selects IC indicators suitable for a company’s situation, and builds an intellectual capital report (ICR) automatically. Our proposed system is designed to analyze a company’s situation, and recommend appropriate IC indicators using several techniques such as analytic hierarchy process (AHP), goal programming (GP), and case-based reasoning (CBR). To validate the practical usefulness of our system, we develop a Web-based prototype ? KARA (Knowledge Asset Reporting Assistant). By using this system, companies may easily construct their ICRs in an effective and efficient way.
