The aim of this study is to investigate the structure of computerized alarm response procedure and abnormal operating procedure for preventing unplanned nuclear power plant trip using computerized procedure system (CPS) design features and early detection concept. Background: CPS has many advanced features as a kind of computerized operating support system. Especially, the monitoring functionality to enter an adequate procedure is provided by continuously evaluated procedure entry condition. Also the operating staff in the main control room can have an ability to cope with plant abnormal condition according to the paper-based procedure and repeated training program. Method: Previous paper-based procedure such as alarm response procedure and abnormal operating procedure has been maintained with the engineering reviews. This study suggests their computerized structures and contents with no change of their own contents using computerization levels based on the importance of plant operating goal. Results: The procedure writer’s guideline for these computerized procedures has been proposed. Conclusion: Operating staff can have more operator action time with early detected events and instant execution of adequate abnormal procedure. Various studies of early detection method about plant abnormal events are necessary for the proposed computerized procedure to be useful. Application: The results can be helpful to revise current paper-based procedure into computerized procedure.
