Bee-eating birds cause a major problem during the virgin queens mating time. A field survey was conducted from March to September 2012 in the southern and northern parts of the Republic of Korea. The predatory behavior of Korean bee-eating birds was recorded between 0900 to 1700 hours at the Rural Development Administration Apis ceranaapiary, Suwon. Our results showed that five species of birds visited A. cerana apiaries. Three out the five species viz, brown-eared bulbul (Hypsiperes amaurotis), great tit (Parus major), and tree sparrow (Passer montanus) predated on A. cerana. Brown-eared bulbul predates on bees en-mass, great tit on the dead bees, and tree sparrow on drones. The youngs of black-billed magpies (Pica pica) predate dead honey bees, and discarded combs White-backed woodpeckers (Dendrocopos leucotos)did not predate honey bees. These beeeating birds were observedall-round the year near A. cerana apiaries. Brown-eared bulbul preys between March to June causes serious damages to A. cerana queen breeders and virgin queens during their mating flights.
