This study proposes to inquire into the linkage between spatial planning and individual health in Sweden and Korea. We attempt to examine how planning can and does contribute to health either at the individual or community level in the Nordic country and the Korean setting. In particular, this manuscript emphasizes a comparative perspective toward investigating Korean and Swedish research and practices. The research found that the common ground between the two countries: academic consensus coupled with practical values and interdisciplinary nature of the issues. The differences also appear worthy to be further discussed: institutional basis, the role of the civil sector, the degree of maturity in “green planning,” and the theme of health equity.
