Due to the long history of violent clashes between Islam and Christianity, there has been hostility, tension, suspicion, and at times, even deep-seated emotion in the broader Muslim community in discussing the topic of apostasy, particularly that of Muslim conversion to Evangelical Christianity. Probably for this reason, Belgo-Moroccan and Belgo-Iranian Muslim converts to Evangelical Christianity in the Brussels-Capital region are not readily visible or easily noticeable to the general public at large. They are not hidden, but are certainly blended in with the rest of the people, thereby combining and crossing boundaries of multi, pluri, and secular nature of this large cosmopolitan city of Brussels. Contigent upon certain conditions, it took less than one year on the average for Belgo-Moroccans and Belgo-Iranians to leave Islam and convert to Evangelical Christianity. Notably, this was true if there was a meaningful relationship with at least one Evangelical Christian, and especially if accompanied by a Bible study. Positive memories about Christians, quality relationships with Christians, and encountering Christ in dreams were all instrumental for Muslims to become Evangelical Christians.
