Pressure swing adsorption(PSA) processes are commonly used in the separation and purification of gas mixtures, and are often used in a variety of industrial applications such as air drying and air separation. In this study, attention is paid to the energy contained in purge gas, to be discharged to atmosphere. The purpose of this study is to investigate the feasibility of energy recovery from the waste in the purge gas. This recovered energy enables additional pressurization of product gas using energy in the purge gas. The results of this paper will provide an opportunity to improve the energy efficiency of the PSA process and provide the capability that PSA can be applicable to larger scale separation cases.
