The purpose of this study is to analyze cross contamination between the outdoor fresh air inlet and exhaust of the heat exchanger in apartment house using CFD. According to the current rules, the degree of cross-contamination according to the shape of the ventilation cap, external wind speed, and wind direction installed was defined as the recirculation rate. As a result, the recirculation rate was up to 30% when a cap of adverse wind prevention was used. In the case of using a round wall-mounted ventilation cap, the recirculation rate was low with less than 10%. Both ventilation caps were analyzed to have a high recirculation rate from a specific area for each wind direction. In the case of the frontal wind, the recirculation rate was high at both ends of the building, the center of the building in the case of the rear wind, and the right side of the building in the case of the lateral wind. According to CRP2 analysis, wind speeds (0.5 ㎧, 1 ㎧) that caused the most cross-contamination are affected by air currents emitted from exhaust located just above not the outside airflow. In the improvement plan, the effect was shown in the form of an exhaust vent protruding alone or both the outdoor fresh air inlet and exhaust protruding. Each confirmed a reduction of up to 70 to 60 per cent.
