AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK) and sirtuin (SIRT) 1 are key metabolic regulator that reduces lipogenesis and increases fatty acid oxidation. AMPK and SIRT1 are mainly activated via phosphorylation of liver kinase B (LKB) 1 under energy stress. Here, we highlighted the anti-obesity effect and underlying mechanism of Coix lacryma-jobi var. ma-yuen (Roman.) Stapf sprout extract (CS) sprout extract in connection with the LKB1/AMPK/SIRT1 signaling pathway. C57BL/6 mice (male, 20-25 g) fed high-fat diet (60% kcal fat; HFD) to induce obesity and at the same time administered CS (100 mg/kg and 200 mg/kg) or Garcinia gummi-gutta extract 200 mg/kg orally for 6weeks.
