The spatial distribution characteristics and patterns of geographic features in space can be understood through a variety of analysis techniques. The `scale` is one of the most important factors in spatial analysis techniques, which is defined as a spatial and temporal interval for measurement and is determined by the range of study area or measurement unit. For an analysis of the optimum scale, it is needed to measure and represent the characteristics of attribute information extracted from satellite image. This study is aimed at identifying the characteristics of remotely sensed image with a coarser spatial resolution. To achieve these objectives, this study selected south part of Kangwha island, Korea, a coastal wetland, for the study site and investigated the changing characteristics of the land cover information with the various resolution images generated from 30m to 480m with an interval of 30m. We identified the characteristics of the satellite image covering Knagwha island were dramatically changed with resolution because of the scale effect.
