    Water lubrication has been widely used in a variety of applications owing to its simplicity, energy-saving, and high thermal capacity. Nevertheless, the low viscosity and the high density of water result in thin-filmed lubrication with low load-carrying capacity because the wedge effect induced by the shear stress is decreased. To improve the wedge effect, a high rotational speed is required, which in turn results in a high Reynolds number accompanied with turbulence and considerable inertial forces. In addition, the large elastic deformation of the bearing's liner owing to its low elastic modulus affects the formation of the lubricant film.
