초록· 키워드
This paper studied the variation of ‘저기요 (jeogiyo)" and ‘여기요 (yeogiyo)" used as address terms in restaurants. It was expected that these two addresses would be used differently depending on the hierarchical relationship between the speaker and the receiver. Therefore, factors of the speaker, the receiver, and the situation were set. This is from the assumption that "jeogiyo" is a listener-oriented expression and "yeogiyo" is a speaker-oriented one. The survey was conducted to confirm the variation pattern. There was a statistically significance between the two addresses in terms of the speaker"s age and gender. As a result of the follow-up qualitative study, age variation could be understood in terms of power and intimacy. "Yeogiyo" has a high illocutionary force and at the same time reveals intimacy. "Jeogiyo" revealed psychological distance and at the same time had a relatively low illocutionary force. The environment of restaurants requires the use of different languages depending on the age group. The younger age group, who are in contact with recipients older than themselves, preferred jeogiyo". The elderly, who are in contact with recipients younger than themselves, preferred "jeogiyo". Ultimately, the variation of "jeogiyo" and "yeogiyo" was related to the linguistic elements that make up each language form.
