This study analyzes population movement patterns and the factors influencing migration across different age groups using spatial autocorrelation and spatial regression analysis. It focuses on age groups ranging from 20s to over 75, excluding Sejong City due to its unique socio-demographic characteristics. The findings show that people in their 20s and 30s tend to migrate to larger cities and the capital region, while those aged 40 and older are more likely to reside outside central Seoul and in certain metropolitan counties. Individuals aged 65 and older are clustered in areas near Seoul and the capital region. The research also highlights that urban economic conditions, housing availability, and the living environment significantly impact population movement. Economic opportunities and job quality are crucial for younger and middle-aged groups, while the living environment plays a larger role for older populations. Variations in housing types and sizes across age groups suggest a need for policy adjustments to address these differences. These findings provide valuable insights for regional development and policy-making, particularly in population management.
