    Emotional display rules can be defined as the standards for the appropriate expression of emotions on the job. Since the subjectively perceived emotional display rules are a direct antecedent of emotional labor behaviors, it is important to understand how they are shaped. In this study, we postulate that the leader positive emotional display influence subordinates’ positive emotional display rule perception and this relationship will be strengthened when subordinates have strong cognition-based trust in leader, and the leader displays behavioral integrity. To test these hypotheses, we collected the survey data from 206 nurses working in hospitals. The results of data analysis revealed that leader positive emotional displays positively influence subordinates’ positive emotional displays rule perceptions. And this positive relationship was strengthened by subordinates’ cognition-based trust in leader and the leader’s behavioral integrity. Theoretical and practical implications are discussed.
