Though there are high potentiality for the development of Elderly Home with the gross demands for it, the development of Elderly Home is not carried out at all. So, the purpose of this study is to provide the criteria to develop the architectural model, the rationalization of site selection for the structure, subsidiary facilities and the management of Elderly Home. The facts found in this study can be summarized as follows. (1) In Korea, Elderly Home is increasingly being located near downtown or in downtown. This is derived from the fact that the brand-new generation of the aged has the great likelihood to participate in social activities. (2) Medical facilities are indispensable in Elderly Home. So it is closely connected with hospital and medical treatments. And it should be planned by considering the relationship with the Hospital. And the Elderly Homes must have permanently stationed medical facilities. (3) Inmates want small-sized rooms, thus one room shaped home should be built for these demands. And the flexibility of the spaces which can make two units into one should be applied to the plan and the design of the Elderly Home. (4) Factors for architectural planning of Elderly Homes are movement pattern, safety facilities, and preferred subsidiary facilities through considering the physical and psychological characteristics.
