We propose a method to utilize the time slot more efficiently in a multichannel high speed network adopting fixed bandwidth allocation. In the proposed algorithm, nodes are grouped according to their traffic locality and one gateway per group is introduced. Nodes and gateways make access to the bandwidth, to avoid hardware complexity, by fixed time-slotted allocation of subchannels. Analytic models for performance evaluation of the proposed algorithm are developed and simulation results are presented. It shows that the proposed algorithm provides better throughput/delay performance proportional to the traffic locality than the previous one.
