    This paper presents a flash type current mode A/D converter. In this converter scheme, a continuous dynamic current mirror and current subtractor are utilized for high speed conversion with low power consumption, and it is proved that proposed scheme is easily expandable upto 8-bit by simply cascading the basic blocks. A 4-bit A/D converter is fabricated in CMOS technology, and it occupies only 172 x 450 μm². Data conversion speed is measured to be 15MHz, and power consumption is 2.1mW with +5V single power supply. At the other extreme, successive approximation and cyclic (or algorithmic) converters are used for low power and/or medium speed applications.
