The in-band and out-band method of the radio interface signaling for mobile communication system are on the opposite side in the performance spectrum of communication quality and resource utilization. This aspect constraints the application of the methods along with the efficiency of the traffic accommodation and the required performance for each service type. In this paper, the performance of the signaling methods is examined analytically in order for recognizing relevant ones for the traffic types of IMT-2000 in which various multimedia services will be deployed. Based on the computer simulation taken with two-state MMPP (Markov Modulated Poisson Process) model for each data and signaling traffic analysis, the arrangements of signaling method for various service types in cdma2000 are evaluated. out-band type channel assignment for it. This decision, however, is generally complicated because the mobile system requires additional considerations on the signaling traffic load such as call control, resource management, location management or so, in addition with the data traffic load [2][3]. For that reason, it is required to examine and distinguish the adequate signaling method for each service scenario in IMT-2000, based on the evaluation for basic performance criteria on the in-band and out-band signaling method using in the radio interface. In this paper, in order to take our discussions into the real world, analysis and evaluation on the performance of signaling method for each service type specified in TIA’s cdma2000 system are performed by applying our performance criteria into its RTT model and channel mapping schemes.
