In this paper, we introduce the discrete time tapped delay line model, and design a spectrum shaping filter to give the time varying nature to this model. And we evaluate the performance of the spectrum shaping filter, which is the most important part of this model, by comparing the power spectral density, LCR(Level Crossing Rate), and PDF (Probability Density Function) of the simulation result with those of theoretical value. This channel model requires following four parameters : the coherence bandwidth of the channel, bandwidth of the transmitted signal, sampling frequency, and the maximum Doppler frequency. We make use of the first three parameters for frequency selective characteristics, and the last two parameters for time varying nature. This paper describes the tapped delay line model with a spectrum shaping filter to vary the complex amplitude of the fading signal for a CDMA system simulation. This model includes following four parameters The first is the coherence bandwidth of the channel, which means that two sinusoidal signals with frequency separation greater than this bandwidth, undergo independent fading. The second is the bandwidth of the transmitted signal When the bandwidth of the transmitted signal is greater than the coherence bandwidth of the channel, different fading phenomena occur according to the frequency of signal. The third is the sampling frequency, which is the reciprocal of the time step to perform simulation The last is maximum Doppler shift that is given as a function of the carrier frequency and the mobile’s velocity.
