The purpose of this thesis is to analyze about the Mediatheque as a community facility, especially on the point of Human Interface elements, in the world of radically changing information society. Also the research aims to discover Sendai Mediatheque plan's spatial configuration by using the Space-Syntax theory which provides quantitative analysis. This analysis allows further and better comprehension on the previous studies about Sendai Mediatheque. The following results were induced as follows;
1. Sendai Mediatheque is composed of 'silent zone' & 'gossip zone', which attracts various people in different age and class which is desirable in community facility. 2. In an open plan in Sendai Mediatheque, the privacy is a very important issue. To solve this privacy problems, Sendai Mediatheque puts the reading room in the deepest place and this is also verified with the space-syntax theory. 3. At 3rd floor, the silent zone, the olds are mostly found where integration value is high. And also the olds are mostly found in 5, 6th gallery. This fact should be considered in designing community facility. 4. By the shape of the furniture, the visitor's tension could be manipulated. The manipulation of furniture positions and shape is essential in designing.
