Proletarian literary movement never ignored colonialism The resistance against colonialism in nationalist movement aimed to build the nation state. But proletariat movement aimed to transcend capitalist modernity by way of building nation state. So proletariat literature emphasized on the relationship of colonialism and capitalist modernity. In proletariat literature the complete emancipation from colonialism was possible by overcoming capitalist world system. Because, as A Ahmad said, colonialism was the product of capitalist nxxIernity.
Lee Ki-Young's Kohyang narrated that Wonter county was changing from feudalism to colonial capitalism. In doing that, Ahn Seung-Hak played the very important role. Since he was a colonial bourgeois, he produced modern-colonial relationships in Wonter county. Kohyang figured truthfully the transition of Wonter county to colonial capitalism. So Kohyang showed that proletariat literature knew the importance of the relationship of colonialism and capitalist modernity.
