Recently, the Korean Government have supported agricultural tourism in order to prepare a space to urban people for natural and vivid living in the rural and fishing distict, and to revitalize a fragile foundation of rural economy. But due to the shortage of information, technique, education, and supporting programs, it is desperate to improve the supporting programs by the government and devise a progressive approach.
Previous studies on agricultural tourism which was a little focused on an internal ourline, present status, problems, and request for improvement. The present study was carried out to clarify the need of developing tourism to major industry in national point of view, connecting agricultural tourism with a program for national land development, and improving the life of both urban and rural residents, laying stress on a environment and function of agricultural tourism.
1. Neseccsity, object, methods, and contents of this study.
2. Present currents of the Korea economy, status, and importance of developments of agricultural tourism.
3. Investigation and analysis of status and problem in Korean agricultural tourism and a case study.
4. Investigation of outline and status to major foreign country as an sample.
5. Assertion to national development of agricultural tourism and a request for development in the policy's and administrative point of view.
6. Illustration of a role, importance, and a developing programs in Cheju island overall development having an advantage in the tourist development.
It is regarded that the present studies will be a basic data to appreciate the importance and a role of agricultural tourism and open a positive approach to the development of agricultural tourism as a future-oriented and industry to the 21th century in Korea.
