The shot peening process is most often used to improve fatigue properties of metal parts. Shot
peening involves modifications of the surface and subsurface condition of a material that can be
described by the change of the residual stresses, the hardness, and the surface roughness.
In this study, the results of observation on the arc height, surface roughness, hardness and residual
stress of a Almen strip(SAE 1070) shot peened were obtained.
Experimental results show that the increase of arc height is tremendous by shot velocity and
expoursure time. Also show that the increase of surface roughness, hardness and compressive residual
stress of Almen strip by shot velocity.
