This study .says how the Method of Correlation, Paul Tillich's theological methodology, can be applied to develop the teaching materials of cultural studies being used in Christian College. Christian Colleges open Christian cultural studies to introduce the gospel to non-believers. They are reluctant to take the obligatory classes and their receptiveness to the gospel is only a little. This study is to develop the materials by using Tillich's theological
methodology in order to help them to contact the gospel more easily.
In chapter 2, Tillich's method of correlation is studied. Tillich's method of coitelation is a logical frarrework of his theology. This method uses the correlation between questions and answers This method asks the question about human existence through philosophy and gives answers within theology. That is to say, philosophy questions by analyzing the circumstances of human and theology answers with Christian messages. A coitelation exists between a question and an answer. The method of correlation is a way to explain the contents of Christian faith through the existential questions and theological answers having correlation.
In chapter 3, the studier explain why Tillich's method of correlation should be used to develop the materials of Christian cultural subjects. He studied why Tillich's theological methodology should be applied to develop the materials of Christian cultural subjects. Because Tillich's theology is a method that can be more easily adopted to non-believers, present generation and culture so that it can gives answers. One more reason is that it is a dialectical method to introduce the gospel to non-believers.
In chapter 4, materials of Christian cultural subjects made through applying Tillich's theological method are introduced. His theological method was used in four other fields to develop materials. Firstly the ptll1X)Se of education, secondly the system of education, thirdly curriculums, lastly the contents of education. This material is consist of 12 chapters. The writer regards the ptll1X)Se of education as the salvation in human existence, the core of Tillich's theology. The system of education is explained by using
the philosophical questions and theological answers of Tillich. The system of education is explained by setting three steps, creation, corruption and salvation to systemize Tillich's method. This book has all 12 chapters which content creation(4chapters: origin and religion, ego and religion, meaning and religion, anxiety and religion), corruption(4chapters: corruption and religion, loneliness and religion, worry and religion, anxiety and religion) and salvation(4chapters: blessing and religion, forgiveness and religion, love and religion, after-death and religion).
It is true that most of the materials being used nowadays in Christian universities are very theological and Christian centered. But the materials made by using Tillich's theological method are very unconventional. I think that this method can be accepted to
non-believers more easily than any other ones so that it can be used efficiently to maximize the evangelization of Christian Colleges.
