100,000,000ton Iron steel and 4,000,000ton Aluminum are produced every year in Japan. About 15% of the steel and 20% aluminum are made to tubes in Japan. Many tubular parts are applied to many kinds of industrial products such as fluid arrangements, furniture, transport apparatus and mechanical part, as required for reduction of production cost and weight.
Lightening of industrial parts is very important for environment of the earth. The lightening makes it possible to save the material of parts. If the lightening parts are used for automobile vehicle, the fuel and cost of material are saved. Lightening of parts is one of the important subjects for mechanical engineers who engage in manufacturing fields. The methods of lightening are the employment of high specific strong material such as high tensile steel and magnesium, and the devising of part shape like tube The tube has high bending and torsional rigidities with respect to its weight compared with same shape of solid part. The cross-section shape of tube can be easily formed to various shapes. Tubes are used for various parts of automobile vehicles, for example space frame, exhaust tube, side beam of door and others
Tubular parts are manufactured by tube forming. That is, we call "secondly metal forming" Conventional tube forming needs many kinds of dies the same as other metal forming, for example sheet metal forming and forging. The profiles of parts which are used m industrial fields, are copied from requested shapes of dies. But some of tube formings which do not use die to be suited for the requested shapes of parts. And some new original tube forming have been invented and developed m Japan. Therefore, some of them are explained in this paper.
