This thesis is to present the desirable directions for port development policy of our country. In order to study this topic, first of all, environmental changes on the port at home and abroad, meaning and importance of port development policy, characteristics and realities of the port development of our country, and issues of the port development policy of our country are researched.
In conclusion, the desirable policy directions toward the above-mentioned issues are as follows: 1) harmonization of port development and urban development, 2) close connection with backlands transportation, 3) transfer of port development subject, 4) expansion and pluralization of financial resources, 5) adaptation to the environmental changes on shipping and port, 6) exclusion of political influence in port development, 7) participation of port users and local self-governing bodies concerned, and so on.
