This study aims to analyze Myeon-Ri-Je with Yangan(量案). Until now studies about Myeon-Ri of Chosun fail to know territories of Myeon and Ri, it has made mistakes for the function of Myeon-Ri and it's change.
I made a DB of Yangan, and contrast Yangan with Yeojidose of geographical book published in 18C. I can find that it had been many changes to be occured from 18C to 20C. Myeon had been improved to more rational form. Ri had been seperated from combinationed form of several villages to natural unit.
Especilly, I find that aii of first Sajok(士族)'s villages was independent from other village by one Ri. We understood that decline of Sajok's power and people's growth may have caused these changes. Because Myeon-Ri had been made along local power's territories. But This study gives notice that there be the example not to agree with such understanding. If it is true, we shall amend not only Myeon-Ri-Je's function and its meanning, but understanding for relation of local power between government.
