This paper focuses on applications to proposed new shading device for the effectiveness utilizing of solar energy in building. As a previous studies, we performed its fundamental study through the proposed new shading device. Preliminary results indicated that the application of new shading device has the potential to be considered a passive control device in general contexts.
This study has been carried out for a evaluation of daylight and solar thermal performance of separated exterior shading device (proposed new shading device) from the building through the simplified mathematical model. The daylight and thermal performance of the proposed new shading device is evaluated for a summer and a winter day. The results showed that the solar heat gain could be decreased by over the 50 percents in a summer day and increased by over the 30 percents in a winter day. As a passive device, application of proposed new shading device in building could effectively control the solar thermal and daylight on all the year round. Consequently, proposed new shading device is a proven effective system to solar energy control for separated building. This approach could have implication for energy efficiency and conservation, effectively utilizing the free resource of solar radiation.
