An experimental study on heat pump cycle systematizing characteristics for R-22 and R-290 is reported. The experimental apparatus was constructed to investigate heat transfer coefficients of a horizontal smoothed tube and grooved inner fin tube. The test sections used as condenser were made of the tube-in-tube type heat exchanger, consisting of a concentric tube. The inside and outside diameter of the smoothed copper tube were 10.07 ㎜, 12.07 ㎜ respectively, and the grooved inner fin tube have 75 fin with 0.25 fin height.
As a result of comparison with correlations proposed by others, Cavallini-Zechin's correlation generally yielded good agreement with the experimental valve except for the low valve of the mass flow rate. The average heat transfer coefficients of the R-22 and R-290 were increased according to the increase of the flow rate, and it was obtained the higher valve in R-290 than that of the R-22. Also, the dimensionless heat transfer coefficient of the R-290 was higher than that of the R-22 in the smoothed tube as well as in the grooved tube. Especially, in the grooved inner tube, 2 times of the increment of the heat transfer coefficient was obtained compared to the smoothed tube.
