Microstructural observation and microhardness measurement were carried out with the graphite powder size distribution in the matrix in order to improve the performance of the carbon blush for air conditioning system and develop its fabrication process. The numerical evaluation of the microhardness by statistical approach was also performed. The average particle size of the graphite was 52㎛, which was homogeneously distributed in copper matrix with spherical shape. Chemical composition of the final product prepared by hot pressing was mainly carbon with small amount of copper, however, molybdenum and chromium were not observed by X-ray diffractometry. Microhardness of the composites showed the maximum and minimum values of 77.18 H_B and 50.33 H_B, respectively. Numerical evaluation based on a statistical model relatively well estimated the microhardness change with graphite particle size, which deviation was decreased with increasing its particle size.
