This paper aims at the study on the function of dialect used in fiction with textliguistic view. There are some language strategies in fiction HONBUL and dialect strategy is one of them.
First, dual dialect system in HONBUL which do for forming the dual structure between WONDEUM and GEOMEONGGUL, between high class and low class etc. makes also the coherence of the work high. Second, mixed dialect system in HONBUL which means that not only PYOJUNEO but also SATURI are good Korean language manifest the writer’s feeling on mother’s language. Third, we are worthy of notice that there are many word used to show the situation of that time(l930’s~1940’s) and that region(NAMWON). Fourth, many paratexts of HONBUL need to be observed to comprehend the fiction rightly.
