This study investigated design changes to help them understood, and looked into the systems for design change abroad and the difference between ours and theirs. In other words, the purpose of this study was to identify the state of and problem with design change and analyze the cases of design changes.
The results from the questionnaire showed that primary cause for design change came from at oder-placing party's request, second cause arose from the defects on the design itself, and third cause stemmed from the difference between the design and the application to the field. In details, in case of oder-placing party's request, plan change cause was placed fist, cost savings was placed second, unscreened in the audit third, regulation alteration fourth, and public complains fifth. In case of the defect on the design, it was because the specifications had not certain materials or there were inconsistencies among designs.
