In the early modern, Avant-Garde artists thought on art as a new modern life. They wanted to make a new art which could make a new environment. It was a abstract painting that they chose. Artists have found out possibilities of new spaces while processing abstract painting. The period of 1920's, diverse abstract-art movements occurred, and their interchange made it possible for new spaces to be realized. New spaces were formed by abstract paintings could contribute to develop a new architectural space. Generally, architecture after 1920' s have been thought to be only as Functionalism. But Functionalism was different with early-Functionalism, its change was made by new architectural space formed by abstract painting. By the united of new space with new structure, functionalism could complete the modern architecture.
This study was based on the study of space of each art-movement, and could analyze inter-relationship between them. And that analysis goes forward to the architectural space and shows how applied the abstract-space into an architecture in 1920's.
