The purpose of this study is to investigate the practical function of the traditional urban forest. Especially, this study analyzed five functions(religious, productive, traffic, military, use) except three functions(scenic, prevention against disaster, agricultural) already introduced by the practical function(Ⅰ) paper. Results of this study can be summarized as follows;
1. The traditional urban forest as a role of religious place is related to Bong San(封山), the forest planted around an altar, and the forest planted by the background of Fengshui theory. Bong San is the mountain which is prohibited from logging in order to sustain national ritual services. So the forest planted around the region appointed as a Bong San has been able to remain up to present because of this national management and citizen's taboo as a sacred precinct. There are many altars constructed around the traditional city which are related to ritual services. The forest planted around these altars has much the same function as Bong San's. And the forest planted by the background of Fengshui theory located nearer to the city center than the other religious forest.
2. The forest planted along main roads has played the role of a milestone. This forest constructed together with a post-town inn and a pavilion is a center of the rest place, and it has been a prominent image as the gateway of the traditional city.
3. The forest as a productive function is the forest planted in order to get wood and fruit. So this forest is closely related to citizen's life.
4. The forest as a military function is the forest planted around a city wall and around main invasion routes something like a high rugged mountain and a beach landing area.
5. The forest as a use function has played the role of supporting various pastimes for citizens such as traditional games(swing, Korean wrestling, a tug of war, trading on the spirits of the terrain, a farm music, etc.) and leisure activities(repose, meeting, walk). And this forest is usually a center in order to educate citizens about nature and regional culture like a natural monument.
As a conclusion, it is necessary for us to consider existing facilities(historical spot, mountain, river, watercourse, city wall, road, etc.) and the agricultural area in urban region in planning forest and urban park, because functions of these facilities are closely related to the function of a newly constructing forest. Also, it is necessary for us to construct multi-functional forest, because this forest is able to receive various behaviors and to solve recent urban problems.
