The term "network" in this study refers to relation among people. The collection of Lee Saek(1328~1396)'s poems, Mokeunsigo, is a mine of information about his daily life from the year 1377 to 1383. those informations are available for the research on his human networks. My study focuses on restoring the networks around him who was a famous neo-confucianist in the late Koryo dynasty. I investigate the following problems: What networks did he join in as a neo-confucianist? How had those networks been organized and maintained? How strong was each network' solidarity? What was the political, economic and cultural meanings of each network?
Lee Saek joined in various networks, for example the Jwaju/Munsaeng and Dongnyeon network, which was also the neo-confucianist network, based on the state examinations; networks based on lilateral kindred; friendship networks with the office colleagues or the fellow students or people of the same age. Those networks played important roles in his daily life. Especially he made much of the networks based on the state examination and lilateral kindred. He compared Jwaju/Munsaeng relation to blood relation. At that period, it was enlarged broadly including Munsaeng's Munsaeng and relatives or Dongnyeon's relatives. Each network members offered goods to help mutually and strengthened their relationships by exchanging and reciting their poems. Poems was regarded as a medium of communication and forming public opinion among them. Because Lee Saek had great capabilities as not only a neoconfucianist but also a literati, he was the central figure of networks.
The human networks seen in Lee Saik's Mokeunsigo had not the rigid structure but the flexible structure. those didn't remain constant. The relationship was held through mutual understanding and interaction, and a member's autonomy couldn't be taken away. If his interest or concern were changed, his relationship
might be weakened.
