To consider the relativeness between the Shaman and Buddhistic costumes, we analyzed the form of Shaman costume, Shaman song and the meaning of Shaman costume used in exorcism as follows:
First, the Shaman costume differs from the Buddhistic costume in terms of constitution in that it is deformed in it's form and decorative technique. While the costume, worn for exorcism in the Hwanghae provincial area, has been influenced by the Taoist costume, the costume worn for exorcism in the Seoul area, has been deformed depending on the social and cultural changes in the course of borrowing from the Buddhistic costume. 'This has been considered as the change in the form in addition to its practicality.
Second, the object symbolizing the harvest god in the Shaman dance shown in the modern exorcism is expressed as the monk or an image of Buddha, and we see that the Shamans use the Buddhistic costume as their costume deifying the harvest god to wear the red belt and bead as the symbol of a Buddhist monk who is the main god in Shamanism through the Shaman dance. The color of the Shaman costume which is always white in all exorcisms symbolizes innocence and divinity, and white used as the color of the Shaman costume means that the Shaman costume created in the course of the combination of Buddhism and Shamanism plays not as the behavioral process to lead the exorcism but as the symbol in the optical medium.
