Park Dongsil is a famous pansori singer. But his name had disappeared after Korean War. So we didn't know his life and the meaning in pansori history. He entered North Korea of his own accord during the War. Because we were a slave to red complex, we could not talk about him for a long time.
He made two great choices in his career. First choice was to be a pansori singer, that was to be given by his circumstances. His family was a pansori singer generation after generation. He studied traditional pansori “Seopyunje(West wing pansori)” enthusiastically, and taught it to many disciples. So modern pansori is got into dept to him in many scopes.
Second choice is made by his own will. He composed many new pansori works, Song of Patriot. This work expanded the pansori territory. He selected the ideology of Communism, so entered North Korea during the Korean War. His choice is evaluated in various standpoints. But it is sure that he is a great pansori master.
